I say wins.

// Lands
4 Mountain
4 Grove of the Burnwillows
1 Pendelhaven
1 Forest
4 Fire-Lit Thicket
4 Mutavault
4 Treetop Village

// Creatures
4 Kavu Predator (soooooooo much better than Everlasting Torment. Don't play that card.)
4 Greater Gargadon
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Tattermunge Maniac
4 Countryside Crusher

// Spells
4 Rift Bolt
4 Incinerate
3 Tarfire
3 Flame Javelin

// Sideboard
SB: 3 Riftsweeper
SB: 3 Sulfurous Blast
SB: 3 Dragon's Claw
SB: 2 Krosan Grip
SB: 4 Magus of the Moon

This deck is probably still a dog to any deck with Primal Command, but it can beat Faeries, and it has a lot of powerful creatures, if left uncontrolled. I think this is the best you can do with a Red deck, and I plan to play it tomorrow if I can get most of the cards.

Deck seems solid. Yeah, Everlasting Torment is bad. "That's real cute! I'll tell you what! I'll play Primal Command, putting Torment on top of your library and I'll gain 7 life. Scoop? K."

@ Solomon: Primal Command doesn't work like that.

@ Ben: Demigod in the sideboard. Gargadon is trash.

don't worry, I already set him straight. Smile

agree with both suggestions though i never considered demigod. i've been experimenting with magus of the moon instead of crusher. i don't know if i'd rather have fulminator mage or magus against green decks though. i'm fairly sure a 23rd land is in order as well.

If you go with Demigod's in the SB then 23 land is merited. Magus seems really good but you'd have to re-configure your mana base so you could reliably cast Predator and Goyf. I guess you could cut the Gargadon's for the Magus.

Probably not right but...

4 Mountain
4 Grove of the Burnwillows
5 Forest
4 Fire-Lit Thicket
3 Mutavault
3 Treetop Village

4 Kavu Predator
4 Magus of the Moon
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Tarmogoyf
4 Tattermunge Maniac
4 Countryside Crusher

4 Rift Bolt
4 Incinerate
3 Tarfire
3 Flame Javelin (would Lash Out be better?)

SB:
4 Demigod of Revenge
3 Riftsweeper
3 Sulfurous Blast
3 Dragon's Claw
2 Krosan Grip

you have more green lands than red in that deck, that's not right.

I honestly dont see primal command being a problem for this deck. You have huge creatures. If they are casting primal command to not die.. they are going to lose. I only see this deck losing to the UWxx reveillark deck that you were playing. It probably even has a ... well.. as good a matchup as one can get against faeries.

it's not all huge creatures. maybe the deck should just be set up to fight through gain 7+search for kitchen finks, and not try to disrupt their ability to get 3GG. that would mean ram-gang as the 3-drop, which is probably way better anyway.

i think i like spitebellows sb for walls and dorans. apparently japanese red decks have ember gale to beat reveillark. dunno if it's good.

seems like there's no reason not to splash goyf. not a big fan of sulf blast, and you should find a way to get 8 manlands in. maybe you could play civic wayfinder? the 3-slot is already cluttered, but he would make your mana good enough to play 4 treetop 4 mutavault. i think zvi's deck was pretty good.

4 Fire-Lit Thicket
7 Forest
4 Grove of the Burnwillows
4 Karplusan Forest
2 Mountain
2 Treetop Village
4 Birds of Paradise
4 Chameleon Colossus
4 Countryside Crusher
4 Deus of Calamity
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Magus of the Moon
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Firespout
4 Lash Out
3 Tarfire

Sideboard:
1 Cloudthresher
2 Firespout
4 Kitchen Finks
2 Loxodon Warhammer
2 Primal Command
1 Shivan Dragon
2 Squall Line
1 Sulfurous Blast

Note that he's playing his OWN Primal Commands which can get some pretty nice fatties to overpower opposing Primal Commands. It's also very creature-based, which is nice.

ive been playing the mono-red deck and i like it quite a bit although sometimes you can get awkward draws that include multiple demigods or multiple cipt lands... but it is still resilient and whatnot

I've always thought it's a little awk to play so many cipt/nonbasic lands with 4 Magus but those are all good cards so I don't see any better options.

I really like Saito's deck! I think it is about as good as RDW can get and I'd play it anyday. I like the SB because it's proactive instead reactive with cards such as Manabarbs and Sulfur Elemental vs. cards such as Dragon's Claw and Everlasting Torment. Those Japs really know what they're doing because Tomoharu "Slap Myself" Saito and Shuhei "Grand Prix" Nakamura only play good decks.

I think Flame Jab is an auto include and it has obv. synergy with Megaliths. I'm considering Stigma Lasher but I don't know if he's really necessary and I don't know what I'd take out? Any thoughts?

This deck rips the shit out of my 5 Color deck pre and post board! Hell, I don't even have a SB for it and the mana base is still off! Hell's Thunder is mini me to Demigod. Incinerate and Magma Spray ensure that Finks doesn't come back for an encore and that makes the difference FTW. I should not have traded my Demigod away! Mad

Yeah, I'm bored again! Okay, the deck plays alright but I wonder if there is a better 2 drop than Goblin Raiders? Also, the SB needs to be developed.

SB:
3 Everlasting Torment
4 Soulsnuffers
4 Thoughtseize
4 Unwilling Recruit

Thanks Ben! I'll probably tweak it more after playing it.
