Post SoA: U/Wx Reveillark

@aceben3 and neux-I need some help putting together a list with Fulminator. I've been looking at Gerry's and trying to get a feel for it. I'm interested in playing a couple of Nekraatal md and so on. Please give me sample lists and commentary. Thanks guys!

Here's a deck I snagged from another forum. It has the LD theme everyone but me seems to like. I gave some standard SB options since it didn't have one.

The skeleton appears to be universal but I'm wondering if 2 Story Circle md would be better than Ajani Vengent seeing how Rev has the upper hand vs. 5 Color Control anyway. Plus, we wouldn't be so "kold" to RDW game 1 and should be able to take game2 most of the time. Also, I would like to try out Nekraatal because his first strike ability seems relavant and he can take out opposing Shriekmaws with ease.

Seems like you want to play a deck more like mine then, without Fulminator Mages or Mannequins and with Story Circles, removal and more counterspells. One of my friends is still rocking this list:

It's pretty good, and I wouldn't feel bad about Statesting with it. I don't think I want removal in my deck game 1 though. If anything I might play a couple of Runed Halos since those are nice against Mistbind Clique, but you already have Sowers for the decks Nekrataal would be good against.

So perhaps a couple of negate md along with 3 Remove Soul and 4 Cryptics? Are you playing any md Archmage?

I still need to come up with a solid sb strategy.

Looks pretty good. A few thoughts:

1. You already have Remove Soul main to help in the mirror, and Faerie Macabre is pretty narrow. I'd try something else. Mistmeadow Witch is pretty insane in the mirror if you just want something for that.

2. I think we all know how good Glen Elendra Archmage is, but I've heard a lot of buzz about decks with lots of planeswalkers, and Archmage completely destroys them. Those guys are going to be MVPs.

3. 3 Infests with 4 Wraths is a ton of sweepers. Sure it'll probably help your Kithkin matchup, but I think 3 Condemns instead of Infests would help against Red and still be useful against Kithkin, and would make your deck a little more well-rounded. As a side effect, Condemn is pretty good against Merfolk, your one truly miserable matchup.

4. Maybe consider Stillmoon Cavalier SB. He gives you pretty substantial threat in the Faerie matchup and holds the fort well against Kithkin. If you can Wrath a couple of times then drop him it's probably over.

5. If you want to work in SB plans, now's the time. It's helpful to know that kind of stuff before you sit down.

On the draw I'd probably take out all the Remove Souls and add the Halos.

Wrath isn't great here, but you already have pretty good cards against them so you should be ok

Faeries

I've seen people try to build Lark decks such that they can take out Larks and Mulldrifters against Fae. I haven't tried it but I might look into it. Would mean not taking such an anti-aggro stance game 1 and I'm a little hesitant to do that.

Halo can be useful against Cruel Ultimatum or Cloudthresher, but honestly I'd like to find a way to add a couple of board cards so you don't have to do that. This configuration is almost certainly not optimal but I thought it'd give you some ideas you can work off of. I wouldn't worry too much about the mirror or random stuff like Realm Razer. This isn't Friday Night Magic, I expect most people to bring somewhat real decks. Granted the mirror is somewhat real but it's not a big enough deck imo to warrant board cards just for it.

You make a lot of sense and I like your sb and strategy much better than mine. Thanks a ton dude!

I've heard from TCG player forums that a couple of guys played these md in their Rev builds. It seems really good if the right build could be developed. I wonder if A couple of Ranger of Eos and a couple of Burrenton Forgetenders could be either md or sb? Or just md Story Circle again?
Could we cut u out and go mainly bw? This would allow for Fulminator Mage md and Thoughtseize. No card draw! Virtual CA? What about 1 Gravedigger for Rev recurrsion or better yet Doomed Necromancer!? Graveborn Muse for card draw? Mindstone better? I know all this is garbled but I'm just going through a Jesse thought process. Here is a very rough sketch of what I'm thinking...

Don't like Doomed Necromancer or Mind Stone. Prefer Knight of the White Orchid. I would find room for a second Mannequin and Vivids for 2-3 Ajani Vengeant. Move Thoughtseize to the board imo.

You should have a 4th Pool. 2 Figure looks like you're unsure of how good it is, and I am too. Conventional wisdom suggests that's the type of card you either want 4 or 0 of. Dunno which is right, just saying.

I almost wonder if you could clear a bunch of room out and go up to 4 Figure 1 Forge-Tender MD with some Rangers of Eos? That may be horrible, beware.

I was thinking of just that when I made that first post. I'll test it out. Mind you, this may all turn to shit but I just want to experiment a little.

Being able to fish cards out of your deck never seems like a bad idea. The question I have is, are there any other 1power creatures in standard that can possibly be 1 ofs to take advantage of the tutoring ability or the ranger? Whispmare? Mirror Entity? I also think that a knight of eos might be useful with mirror entity (make revillark a soldier and sack to fog?) Of course, this would prolly work better with sower, since you can sac their guy to fog. Anywho, just a couple thoughts.

Ranger can only fetch 1cc guys. Loyal Sentry, Burrenton Forge-Tender, etc.

I changed the Knight of the White Orchid to Knight of Meadow Grain because the life link was more relevant than the extra land I hardly got. Also, though Stillmoon kicks ass, it is better in the sb. I'm thinkng of putting in 3-4 Nameless inversion md?

I like condemn more than nameless inversion, and I'm not sure how I feel about the finks.. This is coming from someone who has played with zero SoA though.

imo, from what I can tell about the metagame right now, 5cc isn't popular enough to make Lark a good choice. I'd rather just play 5cc to be better vs aggro or Faeries which is still awesome vs 5cc but probably actually better against aggro than Lark. Fae is just so powerful.

If I were to play Lark again I would play something along the lines of Peebles build with Mistmeadow Witch tech. I know there was 1 Lark build that took first and it was a Peebles build almost card for card.

Why Arcane Sanctum/Vivids if no black?

I don't want 4 Adarkar Wastes so I went with some Arcanes and Vivids to consistently get trips u for Cryptic. If I don't go with Story Circle then I will probably change the mana base and probably add some Mutavault. Not sure yet.

To be honest, Faeries is too good right now for me to play Lark. Faeries won more States than any other deck. If I do much experimenting with Standard it'll probably be with Multicolor Faerie decks and decks that could be favorable against Fae.
