Went 7-0 and won a Magic-League Trial yesterday, I lost to it round 2. It's better than it looks, I promise.

I don't particularly like the Ancestral Visions in the current invironment. I would go with ponder. Other than that, I don't see how this beats a good Rogue deck.

My modifications:
-2 Sower, +2 Unsummon
SB: -1 Remove Soul, -1 Voidmage Prodigy, -3 Bottle Gnomes, +4 Flashfreeze, +1 Unsummon.
I couldn't find any more Sowers, but Unsummon is a great card, especially against Faeries. Bouncing Scion or the creature they Sower for one mana is a pretty strong tempo play. That said, Sower is broken against Big Mana so you want 4 somewhere. I might board a couple in OKC, not sure yet. But yeah this deck is amazing unless the metagame shifts somewhat drastically. Multiple Rejeerey has led to turns that remind me of an aggro High Tide deck. And blue is the best color so yeah.

@aceben3-I'll have to try your Merfolk deck vs. my new GW though I'm pretty sure my deck is too slow.

I understood that my U/B Faerie deck was a bad matchup to Merfolk but it was until I faced you that I saw how bad it really was! I did 2 damage to you out of 2 games! The second game when you played all your Merfolk for free was straight wetarded!

yeah I'm sure the mull to 4 game 2 didn't help much. Playing Unsummon helped though, I think I bounced a Scion once and smashed. Pretty much seems like the best deck in the format imo.

New list from GerryT, seems good. Cuts a land, a Sage's Dousing, and 4 Tideshaper Mystic for 4 Ponder and 2 Remove Soul. Also gets to play Burrenton Forge-Tender. Not sure the blue is really needed though. I want to try Ponder, but Tideshaper was actually really useful for me.

The dude is pretty good at magic so I'd give it a shot and compare the two lists to see which is better. Extra CA is always good but those Tideshaper's helped win games. Oh! You didn't know you played Islands in your Mono Black Whatever.dec? Well, you do now! I don't know... I heard you gave V-Dubs a spanking and he's playing freakin' elves! For that reason, I wonder if the two remove soul are necessary. Is the white splash really all that good just for Forgetender?

Ponder isn't CA but it does help you curve out so it's probably decent at least. I think you can sufficiently counter Sulfurous Blast with 4 Flashfreeze plus Dousing and Cryptic, so imo Forge-Tender is unneccessary. He does kinda win games though. I just don't think it's worth the slight burden on your manabase of playing 4 painlands.

lol soooo some dude on tcgplayer has been saying he crushes merfolk with elves and merfolk have limited constructed potential etc. well, jesse let me know so i resurrected my old tcgplayer account and sent him a pm and a forum reply. i challenged him to a magic-league match and if he can't get on there, i let him know my buddy sephiroth (gerry) might look him up on modo sometime. hopefully this happens and he gets smashed. would be nice.

tested pickles last night and loved it against everything against faeries which is an autoloss, no way around it. i mean i can try to board 3 crovax and DI porphyry nodes but the chances of that ever working...eww. so i thought of this during class. pickles is ok vs big mana. don't judge me.

How does Merfolk do vs. Big Mana? If it's bad game one then the Pickles TSB seems like a great idea! What is O-Ring doing in the MD? Is Teferi for you TSB? I really liked the original version with Tideshaper Mystic because it seemed more explosive. Could you do something like that again but with the Pickles TSB? Just my 2 cents.

ugh idk maybe i dont need to devote 9 cards to manaramp when i could just play a bunch of flashfreeze/remove souls. o-ring is an attempt to solve planeswalkers and stuff like turn 2 doran. i just have a lot of trouble when manaramp goes t2 wall, t3 garruk.

It just seemed like your MD lost a ton of explosiveness. Flashfreeze and Remove Soul sound better. Does R/G Mana Ramp pack Molten Disaster anymore? As far as Doran is concerned, I guess you just have to have an unsummon in hand and a Dousing or Sower in the wings.

By the way, what is Merfolk's Kryptonite deck(s)?
