What rotates and when?

What rotates in extended and when?

Sorry if this was already posted somewhere.

Invasion, Odyssey, and 7th Edition rotate, sometime before the Pro Tour. We'll be left with:
Onslaught
Mirrodin
Kamigawa
Ravnica
Time Spiral (and Coldsnap)
Lorwyn/Shadowmoor
Shards of Alara
8th Edition
9th Edition
10th Edition

Thanks. I don't know much of anything about Mirrodin, Kamigawa, Onslaught, or the cards in 8th not found in 9th/10th, so I will probably need some assistance when it comes time to start building decks.

I was hoping we'd still have 7th. Force Spike + Mana Tithe would've been fun to fend off disruption in whatever retarded combo deck I assemble.

I'm going to be working on another one soon which will include a rundown of what I consider the most powerful cards in the format to build around. There are a lot of design questions, and I think the format is genuinely exciting. Hopefully I'll figure out how to stop playing fair though.

Awesome. I keep hearing talk of this "Counterbalance" deck...

A Counterbalance deck would be something like Next Level Blue from last season. Also, take out Force Spikes and put the Tarmogoyfs in the board, then jam in 4 Swans, 4 Chain of Plasma, and 1 Conflagrate and you get the Control Swans deck. There's a thread about Swans Combo where you can read how the combo works.

The thing about not playing fair means I'd ideally like to break the format with some unheard of combo deck. Unfortunately all the old combo decks (TEPS, Ideal, Heartbeat Desire) all lost significant components like Invasion saclands, Wishes, Moment's Peace and Fact or Fiction. So anything I cook up is going to require some serious brewing. I think combo decks are the most difficult deck type to build. It's comparatively pretty simple to figure out what the best threats are, and it's not that difficult usually to figure out a roughly suitable set of answers to them, but combo decks can be pretty bizarre and play lots of obscure cards. Anyway, I need to get brewing on a bunch of Desire decks or something.
